OUR STORY

BLISS 1041 began when John Skeen, a seasoned CPA with a specialization in tax compliance and a parent to a special needs adult, recognized the challenges trustees faced in processing tax returns for large pools of beneficiaries within the special needs trust community. He reached out to Rich Marlatt, a friend, and experienced technology professional, to explore the possibility of collaborating on a solution. They were driven by a shared vision and commitment to making a real difference, which led to the founding of BLISS 1041.

Supporting the Special Needs Community:

Beyond its technological innovations, BLISS 1041 is deeply committed to the special needs community. Understanding the intricacies of managing trusts and the importance of timely and accurate tax preparation, the company works closely with trustees, providing them with the tools and resources necessary for successful trust management. The guiding principle is to have a positive impact on the lives of individuals with special needs and their families.

We take pride in our deep understanding of Special Needs Trusts (SNTs) and the complexities of Federal, State, and Local Taxes. Innovation in Tax Processing:

Through leveraging the latest in technology and machine learning, we have automated much of the tax preparation process. These innovations have significantly enhanced efficiency and timeliness, essential factors considering the volume of beneficiaries and the complexity of regulatory requirements. BLISS 1041 offers a specialized portal that streamlines the tax preparation process for trustees.

John Skeen, CPA

As an experienced CPA in the tax compliance industry and a parent to a special needs adult, I’ve found my life’s mission in the specialization of Special Needs Trusts, pooled and individual.

The work I do is tailored for the trustees of Special Needs Trusts, to act as a bridge from the complicated maze of fiduciary tax law to an efficient tax preparation process.

My goal is to distill the complexity around Special Needs Trusts and help families provide security and support for their vulnerable loved ones.

Through my expertise, attention to detail, and genuine care, I am successful at cultivating a valuable network in the nonprofit for the special needs sector while specializing in Special Needs Trusts.

The families I work with know their taxes will be done timely and accurately, and that they have an ally in me––someone who can educate them on the options available to them and their families.

I’m proud to know that I give my trustee clients and their beneficiaries the peace of mind that their loved ones will be taken care of long after they’re gone.

Outside of work, you can find me cheering on my son at his Special Olympics and other tailored events, spending time with my family, and coaching youth sports and Special Olympics. I’m committed to my community through volunteerism with at-risk youths and special needs individuals.
